02 What gritter repair work do you offer? +

Pre-season servicing

May to mid-September.

Pre-season servicing runs May to mid-September. It's the best time to catch major mechanical faults.

Leave a major component failure until winter and you could wait months for parts from America — with your machine off the road when you need it most.

Electrical faults are harder to test for and often show up at the start of the season, so get the mechanical issues dealt with early.

I diagnose and repair electrical faults, motors, spinners, hydraulics, augers and other spreader components.

I hold some parts in stock, and I have relationships with dealers across the UK and some manufacturers directly, so I can source what I don't carry.

No work happens without your go-ahead — I'll diagnose the fault, then call you to explain the problem first.

Mid-winter & emergency breakdowns

Most winter breakdowns are electrical.

Most winter breakdowns are electrical, and where possible I'll get you up and running straight away.

If it needs more than a quick fix, I'll come out and work on the machine wherever you are.

I also maintain and repair the vehicle carrying it.

Tell me the make and model and I'll tell you straight away whether I can support it. If it's something I can't help with, I'll say so rather than waste your time.

No. Parts are ordered per job.

I don't carry stock for these machines. Once the fault is identified, parts are ordered in against your make and model so nothing is guessed at.

Ten years on gritter spreaders

Ten years inside gritting operations: machines serviced, faults traced, winters covered.

HELD — EXPERIENCE, NOT A CERTIFICATE

I've spent ten years on gritters and spreaders — servicing them, repairing them, and running winter gritting work myself.

Along the way I've worked for multiple regional and national providers, so I've seen how these machines are used, abused and maintained at every scale.

That's where my diagnostic habit comes from: I've been on both sides of a breakdown.

I work on compact and commercial hopper spreaders — looms and earth faults, spinner and auger assemblies, hydraulics, motors and controls.

In my experience, eighty per cent of problems are electrical, usually corroded wiring/connectors. So that's where I start — not at the parts catalogue.

Please note: I don't cover Econ or large truck-mounted gritters.
